Born on December 1, 1947, in San Marcos, TX, to Albert Mannie Junior and Myrtle Lee Peterson. He graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1966, where he played football, basketball, and ran track. During his time in high school, he set an astonishing record in long jump—a record that stood for over 60 years. For 51 years, he was married to the love of his life, Chequita Anderson Mannie, sharing a life filled with laughter, adventure, and devotion.

He served proudly in the United States Navy from June 7, 1970, to August 5, 1974. During his time in the Navy, he received a National Defense service medal. Albert coached at Lonestar Elementary for five years and spent thirty five years working for Cemex. After retirement, proceeded to part-time employment at Schlitterbahn and the Spirit Store.

He had a remarkable ability to bring joy, inspire others, make everyone feel welcome, and his presence brightened every room he entered.

Albert had a passion for bowling with his wife, fishing, and football (huge Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fan). He cherished time spent with family, traveling, and community involvement. Those who knew him remember his sense of humor, kindness, selflessness, and wisdom, which touched the lives of everyone around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Chequita Anderson Mannie, two daughters, Tamala Mannie and Cherita Mannie. He also leaves behind cherished granddaughters, Ladayza Mannie, Amaya Reeves, and Kali Duncan; a devoted sister, Betty Kay Mannie; and sisters-in-law, Alfreda Banks and Evelina Anderson, brother-in-law Allen Harvey. Albert’s nieces and nephews, who carry forward his memory, include Ernest Wilson, Patricia Wilson, LaShonda Mannie, Tasha Palmer, Allen Harvey, Jason Harvey, Apryl Harvey, Shea-Nenna Banks, Aierol Ormond, Deah Ormond, Dijohn Ormond, Cheyenne Ormond and Derek Anderson, Jr. Great nieces and nephews include Kody Wilson, Keith Wilson, Tyree Wilson, JaSean Arvie, Erskin Arvie, DeLeon High, and LaZiyah High . Great-great niece and nephews include Trystan Wilson, Ava Wilson, Tyson Wilson, and Kassius Wilson. Also surviving are numerous cousins, family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Albert Mannie Jr., mother Myrtle Lee Peterson, sister Ella Wilson, sister-in-law Barbara Anderson Harvey, and brothers-in-law Derek Anderson, Joshua Anderson and Jesse Banks.

All of his family will forever hold his memory close to their heart.

  20. Albert has touched so many hearts on this earth and will be missed forever. I’ve known him only since June 2022, while working security together. I always admired the loving relationship he and Chequita shared. They both watched out for each other and enjoyed lunching together. She kept us apprised of his activities the summer Albert took off from Schlitterbahn, and there was as a cheering round of applause the summer he returned. Albert was very well liked by both his colleagues and guests. I’d smile as soon as I saw him, and I learned so much from him. No one else was like him. And no one will ever be. You remain in our hearts and minds Albert. Sleep easy now.
