Bernardo Bayona, age 70, and a resident of New Braunfels, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 20, 2025, at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Mr. Bayona was born on July 3, 1954, in Durango, Mexico to the late Luis Bayona and Ignacia Vargas Bayona. During most of Mr. Bayona’s working life, he was employed as a machine operator in the manufacturing industry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ysabel Bayona, who passed away on December 27, 2020; brother, Humberto Bayona; sisters, Conception Bayona, Bernarda Bayona, Celia Bayona, Luisa Bayona and Rosario Bayona. Survivors include his children, Chris Perez (Crystal), Rachel Paredez and Isaac Hernandez; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Tomas Vargas Bayona, Javier Bayona and Justino Bayona. In addition, Mr. Bayona is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; eight dogs; one chicken and one cat. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM at the church. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
