It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elida Ramirez (Garza), who peacefully passed away on July 12, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas, at the age of 87. Elida was born on October 4, 1937, in Rio Grande City, Texas, to the late Isidra Adame and Ramon R. Garza.

Elida was predeceased by her loving husband, Adalberto Ramirez and her parents and siblings, Jesus Garza, Reyna Sepulveda, Ranulfo Garza, Mariana Mungia, Gloria Garza, Rebeca Garza and Ramon Garza.

She is survived by her sons, Amando (Tammy), Arnulfo (Terry), Anival (Leisa) and Alfredo (Brenda); Grandchildren: Andres Ramirez (Kelly), Adria Whelan (Kevin), Alyssa Skarke (Michael), Brandy Huston (James), Alex Ramirez (Ali), Addison Elliott (Will), Lexi Freeman (Gavin), Adam Ramirez (Lauren), Drew Ramirez (Kathleen) and 18 great grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory and the love she gave them throughout her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Maria Churbe, Gloria Backeberg and Rene Garza.

Elida was born in Rio Grande City, Texas and lived most of her adult life in San Antonio. She lived the last few years in New Braunfels. She was a devoted mother and dedicated her life to raising her sons. While raising her sons, she worked outside the home as a seamstress and later as a bookkeeper and child care provider. Elida valued education. All four sons received degrees from Texas A&M, with all of her grandchildren also receiving college degrees; 8 from Texas A&M and 1 from Ole Miss. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elida was known for cooking and serving the most delicious food. She was truly a most gracious hostess and made sure that everyone was welcome in her home. Elida will be remembered for her kindness and devotion to family.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Lux Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas. Elida will be laid to rest at Hill Country Memorial Gardens in New Braunfels, Texas.

The family expresses their heartfelt thanks for the love and support shown during this time of loss. Elida’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
