Emilia Luna Delgado

Emilia Luna Delgado, 95, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025. Emilia was born May 30, 1930 in Geronimo, Texas to Valentina and Geronimo Luna, Sr.

While on this Earth, Emilia lived a life surrounded by family, friends, as well as her faith and devotion to God. Growing up during the Great Depression, Emilia joined the workforce at an early age in order to assist her family, including picking cotton, cooking and cleaning. Her talent for cooking extended beyond work, for Emilia cooking was an expression of love. She was well known in the community for her cooking tasty tamales. Some of the enjoyments in her life included singing with the church choir, sewing, dancing, playing lotería, watching telenovelas, and listening to Glen Miller and other big band music. Of the many joys in her life raising her children, watching her family grow through the generations, and attending family gatherings brought her the most happiness.

Emilia is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Juan Delgado, Sr.; step-father, Juan Gallegos; sisters, Juana Rivera, Sipriana Cedillo, and Elida Llamas; brothers, Jesus Luna, Estacio Luna, Geronimo (Jerry) Luna, Jr., and Juan Gallegos, Jr. She is survived by her children, Connie Esquibel (Simon), Carolina Solveson (Kevin), Juan Delgado, Jr. (Lourdes), Sylvia Delgado, Carlotta Chavarria (Pánfilo), Gloria Guerrero (Jaime), Mary Alice Villanueva (Adam), Diana Delgado, Grace Rosales (Alejandro), Adrian Delgado (Nelda), and Cecilia Perez (Daniel), 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Lux Funeral Home with the recitation of the Holy Rosary starting at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM with a procession going to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
