Garland E. Pack Jr., 59, of New Braunfels, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 after a quick and courageous fight with cancer. He went to Heaven peacefully with his family by his side.

Garland, also known as GPack, Bubba, and 6-Pack, was born on July 9, 1965 in Beaumont, Texas. Garland grew up in Port Acres and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1983. In 1984, he met his beloved bride at Tyler Junior College, where he was President of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

Garland pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications at Lamar University and became a caseworker for Texas Child Protective Services. After 13 years of fiercely advocating for his children and families, Garland turned his focus toward his own family and became a stay-at-home father until his youngest child graduated high school. Garland enjoyed laughing, good food and beer, exciting adventures, music, and most of all, spending time with his loved ones.

Garland is preceded in death by his parents, Garland Pack Sr., Darold Frederick Sr., and Anita Joyce Frederick. He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, LaDonna; children, Austin and Savanna; and siblings, Rhonda Pack Hall, Darold “Fred” Frederick Jr., and Roy-Winston “Boogie” Frederick.

Garland loved loud, played hard, and lived life big. Our lives have been touched by his presence and will forever be altered by his absence.

  10. Garland and Darren Gaspard were probably the two closest friends I had growing up. Garland and I lived down the street from one another for as long as I can remember until we graduated high school and moved on from Port Acres. We reconnected after I moved to the Austin area and found out that he lived in New Braunfels. He and Darren are both gone now but I hope they are up in heaven hanging out and remembering the great times we had as kids!

  11. RIP Garland, you were one of my best friends. We go back to middle school. I remember the older guys attacked us in gym, you took up for me. But we both got jumped anyway. This one really hits hard. You were always there as a great friend. You will truly be missed. Rest well my brother. C/0 83.

  15. Going to “work” with one of my girlfriends who is a beer rep, the first pub we walked into you yelled, “ I know you, you’re Bri’s Mom!” You followed us to each venue we had to check in on enjoying the beverages her company was represented at. It was a great day hanging out with you, smiling, laughing and talking! RIP Garland, you will be missed!!

  16. My condolences to all his family and friends. He was well-loved, that’s easy to see. He was taken too soon.
