Gerald A. Smith Jr.

Gerald A. Smith Jr (Jerry), 80 years old, born February 16, 1945 in Gainesville, Texas to Gerald A. Smith Sr and Gracie O. Smith. Jerry passed away on July 6, 2025 unexpectedly at his home in Schertz, Tx.

Jerry served in the United States Navy and completed 2 tours in Vietnam. He was extremely proud veteran of his time he served in the U.S. Navy. Jerry held various jobs post military and after retiring, he proudly served at the VFW post in Schertz, Tx.

He loved his family fiercely and will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Gracie Smith, sisters D’Ann and Nancy Smith. He is survived by his wife Melba Smith, his son Clayton Smith and his wife Bernaye Smith of Boerne Tx, his daughter Patricia Comber and her husband Tom Comber of Surprise Arizona. He also had a step son Boby Bartay and his wife Saffi Bartay of Converse, Tx. His sister Susan Allen and her husband Patrick Allen of Boerne, Tx. He also had 8 grandchildren who he loved dearly. Mallory Wilburn and her husband Charlie Wilburn, Caitlyn Ortiz, Kaitlyn Comber, Tyler Comber, Casey Comber, Corbin Comber, AZ de la Cerna and Sofia de la Cerna. Jerry also had 2 great grandchildren Pruitt and Judge Wilburn. He had a niece, nephew, and cousins who he left behind.

Services will be held at a later time to be determined by family at Fort Sam Cemetery.
