Helmuth "Sonny" Heinemeyer

Helmuth “Sonny” Heinemeyer (88) went to his forever home on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at his home in New Braunfels, Texas.  He was Born in Geronimo, Texas on March 2, 1937 to Helmuth and Meta (Dietert) Heinemeyer.

Sonny’s childhood was spent in the Seguin, Geronimo, Hancock and New Braunfels area.  He worked at Plaza Drug Store, Western Auto, Sears (La Grange), Williams Heating and Air and Comal ISD (24 years).  He retired from CISD in 2002 and spent many hours/days not doing Honey-do jobs. On March 16 ,1958 he married Betty Armke and they enjoyed 67 years.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Helmuth and Meta Heinemeyer; father and mother-in-law, John and Norma Armke; brother, Kenneth Heinemeyer; sister-in-law, Ruby Heinemeyer; brother-in-law’s, Bill Foxx and Jim Stephens. He also preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law’s, Kermit and Evelyn Krueger, and Roy and Aline Armke.

He is survived by his wife Betty Armke Heinemeyer and children Sherry Erben (Russell), Laurie Koehler (Curtis), Michael Heinemeyer (Shelly).

Surviving grandchildren are: Nichole Koehler Schroeder (Kyle), Chad Koehler (Jenni), Wendy Heinemeyer Brown (Patrick), Megan Heinemeyer, Caitlin Koehler, Callie Koehler, Samantha Heinemeyer (Cody Brewer).  He is also survived by, Jackie Erben Poole (Shawn), Robin Erben Gonzalez (Fredo), Mandie Erben Busselman (Jared).  He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren.

Pallbearer’s will be Chad Koehler, Kyle Schroeder, Fredo Gonzalez, Cody Brewer, Patrick Brown and Colten Brown. Honorary pallbearer’s will be Kelvin Kramm and Dennis Krueger Sr.

A Visitation will be held at Lux Funeral Home in New Braunfels, Texas on Sunday February 8, 2026 from 1:00pm-4:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Friedens Church in Seguin, Texas on Monday February 9, 2026 at 1:30pm with interment to follow at Lone Oaks Cemetery. A Reception will be held following the interment at Friedens Church.

Memorials may be given to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels, TX or charity of your choice.
