Johnnie Covington “John/JC” Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 22, 1945, to John and Anna Covington, John lived a life of honor, service, and unwavering devotion to his family and country.

A proud veteran, John served as a Captain in the United States Army and bravely fought in the Vietnam War. His leadership, strength, and sense of duty were hallmarks of his character—both in uniform and in every aspect of his life. He was a Karate instructor for Hill Country Karate for over 20 years.

John was a devoted husband to Mary Anne Covington, his beloved wife and partner in life. Together, they built a strong and loving family. He was a cherished father to Holly Malish, John J. Covington (wife, Nichole), Tuesday Batey (husband, Brandon), and Kelly Kelley (husband, Richie). Bonus children Sandra Salas (husband, Mark), Veronica Closner (husband, Joe) and Tomas Ramirez (wife, Grace).

He was a proud and loving grandfather to Vivian Malish, Statham Covington, Addison Covington, Penelope Covington, Sarah Kelley, Lily Bailey, and Levi Bailey. His legacy continues through his great-grandson, Xage Covington, who brought him great joy. Bonus grandchildren Justin Jimenez (wife, Kelli), Gabriela Alvarez (husband, Kurtis), Katerina Carrasco (husband, Giancarlo), Jack Salas, Joshua Closner (wife, Destiny), Alexia Neill (husband, David), Estella Closner, Destiny Closner, Desire Arriaga, (husband, Fernando), Paul Closner, Josiah Closner, Tommy Closner, Isaac Ramirez, Raven Olivia Ramirez, Elizardo Ramirez and eight bonus great-grandchildren.

John is also survived by his sister, Maryann Jackson, and his nieces, Beth Caldwell and Carla Jackson, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents John & Anna Covington and daughter, Kelly Kelley, whose memory he carried with him always.
