KATHLEEN R. STILLMAN OBITUARY
Kathleen (Katie) Rose Stillman went home on January 22, 2026, surrounded by family.
Katie was born in Los Angeles on March 22, 1944 to George E. and Mary A. Graviss Murdaugh. She was raised in Bryant, Arkansas, a rural area with eight siblings: six sisters, and two brothers. She had a love for fishing, gardening, cooking, discipline, and board games. Family fishing trips and daily rosaries, helped instill a strong faith that would grow throughout her life. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary Academy in Little Rock, where she was a boarder and helped with the young students. Katie went on to attend Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) in San Antonio, graduating in 1966 with a degree in Biology. Throughout her career, she worked in several states, locations, as a Medical Technologist.
While at OLLU, she met Robert (Bob) Stillman, who was attending St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, at a Fraternity Party. A mere friendship that lasted seven years grew into a lasting love. They were married in Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 9, 1970, after Bob returned from Vietnam. The Army life found them in Illinois and Maryland and blessed them with three sons. After being released from Active Duty, Bob work at a Research Lab at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. An opportunity to move back to Texas resulted in living in Corpus Christi for twenty five years.
After both retired, Katie informed Bob she wanted to live close to future grandchildren. That move was to New Braunfels in 2006 where they became active members of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. As usual, Katie jumped in with both feet. She sang in the Church Choir for several years, Eucharistic Minister, until her physical problems prevented her from continuing. She served on boards for both the Journey to Damascus, and ACTS Retreats. She was a member of the Saint Ann’s Christian Mother’s Altar Society, Bible study groups, and the New Braunfels Angels, a group of ladies that had been on Retreats and met regularly to enhance their spiritual life.
Katie was known for her constant smile, positive outlook, and telling anyone that would listen, “Today is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad”, Psalm 118:24.
Her acceptance of the ups and downs of life was built on a strong foundation of Faith, Family, and Friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded by her sister, Sister Angela Murdaugh, and brother-in-law, Terry Henson.
Katie is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob), three sons, R. Brian (Tamara), two daughters, Jocelyn and Vivienne; Christopher (Angela), daughter, Brianna, and sons, Christian, Grayson; Aaron (Amanda), son, Aidan. Siblings, Anita Henson; Patrica (David) Mentgen, George (Theresa) Murdaugh, Nancy (Mike) Hammack, Diane (David) Harrington, Judy (Ronnie) Lindsey, Danny (Dottie) Murdaugh, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Love you,
The Weiss Family
I miss Katie. She was a faithful servant of Our Lord; a tireless recruiter of souls for the Journey To Damascus community. God rest her soul and may Perpetual Light shine upon her.
I am deeply sad to say good bye to a wonderfully kind person. Many prayers for Katie , Bob and all the family.
Bob & family,
It was our sad discovery of Katie’s passing while reading a daily e-mail I receive from the New Braunfels paper . We fondly recall our friendship while you were parishioners at St.Pius X here in Corpus Christi. When you moved to New Braunfels we were delighted to discover that your home was just down the street from where my parents lived! It sounds like you both became very active in my home parish at SS. Peter & Paul and beloved parishioners!
Please accept our sincere condolences on dear Katie’s passing and rest assured she is with our Savior Jesus. She will be included in my daily prayers for the faithful departed.
