Mary Margaret Peterson

Mary Margaret Peterson, age 85, and a resident of McQueeney, passed away from natural causes on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels. Mary was born on March 30, 1931 in Cumberland, MD to Franklin R. Lear and Catherine Smith Lear. Mary had a college degree in education and worked for Safeway grocery store on Washington Street for many years. She loved to read and take care of her flowers, especially her roses. She also was a great lover of cats. She is survived by her only son, Scott Hawthorne; daughter-in-law, Renee Hawthorne of McQueeney; granddaughter, Meredith Ackerman and husband Josh from Sacramento Ca.; grandsons Jeff Cutcher and Justin Smith, both from McQueeney and Scott Hawthorne, Jr. from Yuba City, Ca. In addition, Mary is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
