Michael Anthony Mauricio, 69, of Seguin, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, surrounded by love and memories.
Born on July 16, 1956, Michael lived a life full of heart, humor, and generosity. He was a man who never met a stranger—always ready with a helping hand, a fishing pole, or a story to tell. Whether he was digging for treasures with his metal detector, casting a line with his fishing buddies, or simply showing up when someone needed him, Michael made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Augustina Rosales Mauricio; his father-in-law, Ignacio Flores Cantu; and his mother-in-law, Gloria Aurora Cantu—each of whom held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Theresa Cantu Mauricio, and their beloved children, Lyle Anthony Mauricio (Lori Elizabeth Sandoval) and Miclynn Marie Mauricio. He also leaves behind his loyal pet companion Gervin, and his unforgettable cat roommate, Kenzo “Schizo”, who made sure every chair was shared and every quiet moment had company.
Michael is survived by his brother, Reynaldo Reyes, and his best friend, Steven Patrick McHugh. His fishing adventures were legendary and joyfully shared with his fishing buddies, Cruz Isaac and Ace Anthony Tiller.
Family meant everything to Michael. He is lovingly remembered by Dianna Cantu Salazar and Pete Salazar, as well as Giovanni Marcel Salazar, Gianna Isabella Salazar, Gillianna Isabella Salazar, Gionni Marcel Salazar, David Austen Kernodle, Josh Aaron Kernodle, Gerard A. Mauricio, Dora J. Mauricio Holguin, Lucy A. Mauricio Farley and numerous other family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Picks Bar located at 4553 N Loop 1604 W #1101 San Antonio, Tx 78249 from 5pm-8pm. All ages are welcome to attend. In true Michael fashion, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you tip your bartenders—a gesture he would’ve appreciated and probably insisted on.
Michael’s legacy lives on in every laugh, every shared memory, and every act of quiet kindness. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and always loved.

You will truly be missed by our family. We love you with all our hearts, but know you are at peace with our Heavenly Father. Thank you for always showing our kids endless love and laughs as they got to see a part of you that I experienced growing up. Forever in our hearts!
I knew Mike from childhood as he lived on my street on Pinehurst. My whole family liked him but he and my brother Danny Morrison hung out together quite often. He had the best laugh and smile. Such a sweet guy. My deepest condolences to Teresa and the family. God Bless. Katrina & Dale Wilkins
Met Mike in high school. We were not best friends but, Mike was a friend to all that he came across. My sincere condolences to Theresa and his family. May the Perpetual Light of Christ shine upon Mike. Prayers of comfort for y’all.
Mike encapsulated the strength of a good father, the strength of a good husband, the strength of a good cousin. Loyalty meant so much to him towards his family. Every time he would call I would already have a smile on my face. His sense of humor was a little gnarly at times, but that was Mike. He was adored and still is by my brother Jerry and my sister Dora . My sweet Teddy Bear Mike♥️♥️♥️love you!
Mr Mauricio was always so nice and inviting. He would drive Lyle, Taylor, Hunter and myself to Austin for shows, cooked the best BBQ and let us jam out all night. I always loved going over to the Mauricio house and he was a big reason why.
So, sorry for your lost. Praying for your family.

I met Mike in 1989 when we worked for America West airlines. I could tell there was something special about Mike. He was always very kind, helpful and happy. After that, we lost contact. But years later, our children ended up at the same school. My wife Lisa, got to meet Mike and Teresa. We all just clicked together and enjoyed each other’s company, when we got to meet, through the years. Mike was a true and dear friend, to me, in this life. To me, it felt like a “David and Jonathan” type of friendship. A couple of weeks ago, he told me he was going to take me fishing, because I don’t fish. I was really looking forward to it. So Mike, my brother in Christ, It looks like I’m in a line, for a fishing trip with you. But let’s invite Jesus, to come with us, in the boat, (I wanna make sure I catch a fish). We’ll also ask him, to please NOT take a nap!
Theresa, Lisa and I are lifting you up in prayer. “May the Lord bless you and keep you and cause his face to shine upon you and give you his favor and peace”. Our God and Mighty Father, is hugging and comforting you! We love you!❤🎣
I’m going to miss his little remarks when I post about the Philadelphia Eagles during football season .. RIP Mike ..🙏✝️
We are so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. Brenda and I have so many great memories with Mike. It was always an adventure! I was so happy to hear from him just a few weeks ago when he called to catch up.
Our prayers with you Theresa. May The Lord be near to you and your children.
Was so sorry to hear about Mike. Our prayers go out to you and your family.
I’m so glad to have reconnected with Mike recently. My old and cold heart breaks for the family. I lift prayers of comfort for you all.
I’ll always remember Mike as the guy with an ever present great smile and laugh. The only thing that was larger and more pronounced than his smile was his heart. Rest easy, my friend. We’ll catch up again on the other side.
