Alfonso "Poncho"Rodriguez, a life-long resident of New Braunfels, was called home by hiscreator, on Sunday, September 2, 2012 in New Braunfels at the age of 77."Poncho" was born on October 30, 1934 in New Braunfels to Cruz Rodriguez andPetra Campos Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, PetraGaytan & Consuelo Vega & brothers, Israel & Pedro Rodriguez. Alfonso is survived byhis loving wife, Estela T. Rodriguez; daughters, Maria Estella Serna & husbandEsteban (Steve), Juanita Louise Gutierrez & husband, Adolfo from CanyonLake, Suzanne Quiroz & husband, Robert from San Antonio; sons, Alfonso"Ponchito" Rodriguez II & wife, Kathleen, Michael Rodriguez & wife Linda; brother, Rito Rodriguez & wife, Jeanfrom Tennessee; 15 grandchildren: Stefany Serna Watson &Steve Serna Jr., Marcus, David & Christian Gutierrez, Sasha & Adrian Quiroz, Erika, Thomas& Kevin Rodriguez, Amanda, Michael Leroy & Albert Rodriguez, Kevin, Jacob & Elena Hodgkinson; five great- grandchildren: Sebastian &Analisa Serna Watson, Sophia Jo & Stella Serna & Makaylee RodriguezHernandez and numerous nephews & nieces. The family would liketo thank Dr. Campos and all of his medical team, the nursing staff at SundanceNursing Home and Hope Hospice. A Memorial Mass willbe held at 7:00 PM on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests thatdonations be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church Food Pantry.

I always wondered about Poncho. I never knew where you all lived. I would have liked to have visited him. May God be with you all. Remember, we’ll be all together some day up in heaven.
