Berty Steven "Frenchy" Huet

A man full of life and who was known for his welcoming smile was taken away too early from us on the morning of November 16, 2022 at his home in New Braunfels. Berty Steven Huet also known as “Frenchy” died at the young age of 58. He was born on December 9, 1963 on an island more than 10,780 miles from New Braunfels known as Mauritius-Eastern, Southern Africa to Joseph Francis Huet and Marie Therese Ennesie. In his early years, Berty served his country proudly as a Merchant Marine, which allowed him to travel the world and meet many people who were never ever strangers. Berty made a stranger a friend in the first few minutes of the meeting. He would give his all to his friends and family with his cheerful disposition and his welcoming attitude. The doors to his home were open to all, and he would stop at nothing to send out invitations to come on over. He was definitely a romantic man with the ability to dance like the wind. He would spin around his wife and partner for over 25 years so endearingly. Berty owned and operated, Picasso Touch, in the New Braunfels and surrounding areas for over 28 years. He was a master in his profession, and he was well- respected by many in the industry. His family will continue his legacy in the painting industry. To say that Berty was the life of the party is an understatement, he was the party. He knew how to make even the shyest person enjoy themselves. He was a world traveler experiencing travels not only in his home country, but to Europe, Australia, and any country he could visit and appreciate. He truly enjoyed meeting new people, seeing the different cultures of the world, and just living in the moments of his travels. Berty was also a lover of food, especially his food from home. He was a fan of curry, pickled garlic, lentils, and basmati rice. He was also culinary extraordinaire, he enjoyed getting together for an evening filled with music, good food and some great friends and family to join in. Cooking was a little side passion that he adored to share with everyone, and it was just yet another one of his many talents. Another passion of Berty was his love of music. He loved ALL genres of music from salsa meringue, Mauritian classics, Tejano, country, jazz, romance, and oldies. Berty was also devoted to his family. He prided himself in raising his two kids and providing all he could for their well-being. He continuously lived by the motto of “don’t worry, be happy” something that was so infectious when one was among his presence. Berty will be missed but not forgotten. He has affected the lives of many and will continue to do so even in death. Berty was a strong man, who fought until his last breath. The family would love to share some words of wisdom from Berty to all those who knew him, "life is fair, but we make it unfair to each other." Berty's wisdom and goodness should be remembered by us all. Survivors include his loving wife, Olinka Stoklasova Huet; daughter, Mia Jacque Huet; son, Patrick Huet; brothers: Clifford, Michael, Tony, sister, Mary Ann. A Celebration of Berty’s Life will be held at 4:30PM on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Kings and Queens Ballroom, 442 Stolte Rd., New Braunfels 78130. If you would like to donate food for the pot luck celebration, please bring dishes by the hall at 4:30PM on November 28th. Please come and join us to remember a great man, Berty Huet. The family would like to request that guests wear colorful attire in memory of Berty's colorful personality, please as this is a celebration, not a funeral.
