Billy Joe Dickinson, a resident of Canyon Lake, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Eden Hill in New Braunfels at the age of 84. Billy was born on February 15, 1927 in Beeville, TX to William Edwin Dickinson and Fay Lucille Powell Dickinson. Mr. Dickinson served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. During his professional career, Billy worked as an engineer for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Moreover, Mr. Dickinson and his late wife, Lola, thoroughly enjoyed square dancing for many years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lola Mae Dickinson; brothers, Edwin and Fred Dickinson, and by a granddaughter, Stephanie Duprat. Survivors include his son, Billy Don Dickinson and wife, Jacque; daughters, Sherry Williams and husband, David and Beverly Duprat and husband, Cliff; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition, Billy is also survived by a sister, Anna Rose Keller. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Cranes Mill Cemetery in Startzville with Chaplain Ralph Ludwig officiating.
