Carolyn Ann Rutherford

Carolyn Ann Hall Rutherford, 80, died Friday, January 3rd. Carolyn was born to the late Hubert and Eula Bell Hall, August 28, 1939, in Memphis, Tx. Carolyn graduated from Lakeview High School in 1957 and received a BA from Abilene Christian University. She married Joe Bayless Rutherford in 1960, and they lived together in Weatherford Tx, before relocating to New Braunfels, Tx. in 2017. Carolyn was a caring wife and mother who loved unconditionally. She was the greatest and most loving mother to her daughters Cecilia Jane, who passed away in 2009, and Lisa Jo. Carolyn was a caring Grandmother to her three grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Carolyn was preceded in death by her baby brother, who lived just three days, but she spoke of often, Larry Hubert Hall. Carolyn was a dedicated teacher for over 30 years and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. She also launched a second career as a real estate agent. For many years Carolyn enjoyed helping others find the perfect home. She continued to teach even after retiring by volunteering at the Weatherford Senior Center, teaching seniors basic computer skills. She wanted to aid seniors in embracing technology and taught others to use the personal computer. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joe Bayless Rutherford, daughter and son-in-law: Lisa and Eddie Trefger, of New Braunfels, Tx, sister and brother-in-law Linda and Teddy Kneece of Columbia, SC. She is survived by her three grandchildren, Taylor, Mackenzie, and Bradley Trefger. Carolyn had a special place in her heart for those in need and helped provide that support. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Lux Funeral Home, New Braunfels.
