Colleen Seelhammer, a resident of New Braunfels, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday evening, December 22, 2016 at the age of 77. Colleen was born on August 31, 1939 in St. Paul, MN to William Allen Cumming, Sr. and Stephania Schneider Cumming. She later married Allen Joel Seelhammer on April 29, 1961 in Dakota, MN and the two later became residents of New Braunfels in 1984. Colleen was a devoted and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Colleen and Allen moved 17 times as he pursued his career with 3M. She was a master homemaker who ensured that through her creativity and decorating abilities, that every house became a home. Her historical home on Mill St. was featured in the New Braunfels Christmas Tour of Homes. She was Boy Scout Den Mother for her boys and loved to make cookies and read with her grandkids. She had a green thumb and stunning red geraniums, her favorite flower always graced her porch. We will always remember her wonderful Christmas celebrations and we are still searching for her Christmas sausage recipe! She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Seelhammer, who passed away in 2004; brothers, Robert, William, Jr. and Carl Cumming; sisters, Naomi "Sarge" Wells and Ruth Hedlund and by her brother-in-law, Wayne Seelhammer. Survivors include her loving husband of 56-years, Allen Joel Seelhammer; sons, Keith Allen Seelhammer and wife, Leta, Kevin Seelhammer and wife, Clara and Michael Seelhammer and wife, Lisa; daughter-in-law Venecha Davidson; grandchildren - Kaleb Seelhammer, Katarina Seelhammer, Nicholas Seelhammer, Ben Seelhammer, Zachary Seelhammer, Jacob Seelhammer, Mycah Seelhammer, Mariah Denson, Cole Seelhammer, Shelby Seelhammer, Miranda Seelhammer, Charlotte Seelhammer, Great-grandson - Liam Denson; sisters, Margaret "Ming" Hines and Zerita Hendricks. In addition, Colleen is also survived by her sister-in-law, Madonna Seelhammer. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home Chapel. (Please note: The location of both the visitation and Holy Rosary is correct as stated.) Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning, December 28th from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 AM. All services will end following the Funeral Mass. A reception will be held after the Funeral Mass at the St. Mary's Hall of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be: Nicholas, Ben, Zachary, Jacob, Cole and Kaleb Seelhammer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels or to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to extend special thanks to Home Instead and Hope Hospice and caregivers and friends Elena Villegas, Meg Chalupa and Teresa Panozzo.
