David Martin Reininger
November 26, 1949 ~ January 11, 2015
David Martin Reininger, 65, of Seguin, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at the Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio. Born on November 26, 1949 in New Braunfels, he was the son of the late Ruben and Celestine Reininger.
David is survived by his wife, Donna Reininger; daughter, Suzie Moya and her husband Philip; grandchildren, Morgan, Mason, and Matthew Moya; brothers, John and his wife Maureen, Danny and his wife Connie, Chris and his wife Barbara, and Bobby and his wife Burnita; sisters, Kathy Poeck and her husband Gary, Ann Poulos and her husband Nick; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, including special aunt and uncle Dorothy and Jack Sims. In addition are many extended family members and friends.
David served three years in the U S Army, with two tours in Vietnam. After studying Criminal Justice at SWTSU, David served as a police officer for the NBPD, before becoming a Special Agent for Southern Pacific RR. He finished his law enforcement career as an investigator, retiring in 2004 from the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office, having earned his Master Peace Officer Certification. David loved his pets and farm animals, motorcycles, and fishing.
A visitation will be held at the Lux Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at 9:00am on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Oakwood Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors.

so many memories playing at your house, my house, Oma & Opa’s – celebrating our parents’ birthday … and never forget all the great bar-b-q’s in your back yard and those incredible rabbits your Dad would fix. I am so sad to see you leave us.
David it seems as if I have known you forever wow all the memories thank you for loving my sister and giving her such a happy life. You were definitely one of a kind. I must say out eating you is probably something I shouldn’t be proud of but I am!!! Until we meet again….

Worked with David on the SP Railroad. He was a good guy and a good friend. Don’t know that ever met a fella that could eat like him…….Family order of chicken or fish for lunch? Then possibly a few hot dogs to carry him through the shift. He will be missed. A good man.
I also worked with David at the Southern Pacific, you could not have a better man to work with when trouble was around. Rest in Peace

I knew David when we worked at NBPD many years ago. Good guy, always a smile on his face. Condolenses to all of his family.

Sad to hear about David and sorry we have been out of touch. He will be missed. We always had a lot of fun. Not many I can say that about as I can about David.

My sincerest condolences to Donna and David’s extended family. We were close friends in grade school at SS Peter and Paul and later at New Braunfels High. In grade school I would spend the night occasionally and we would play war with real BB guns with David and his brothers. Those were innocent times yet the fondest of times. David was a loyal and trusted friend, like so many of us in this busy work a day world we would only see one another at an occasional high school reunion. I am sorry to say that it has been more than 15 yrs. since I attended. It saddens me that distance and time kept us apart over the years. I really just wanted to honor his memory and let you know how much I thought of him as person, like most of us he struggled with life’s up’s and downs. I just wanted you to know that God loves you even in your time of loss and grief and wanted me to share the memory and love He has for each of his children including David.
My prayers to all of the Ruben and Celestine Reininger family. Rest in peace David and thanks for your service to our country.
The Reiningers were our neighbors when our family first moved to America; David and his family were kind and generous boyhood friends. I hadn’t seen David since high school days, and was saddened to hear of of his passing, and his suffering from the lingering consequences of his military service in Vietnam. Warm blessings to his wife and siblings, with the sure knowledge that his love lives on.
