On Thursday March 24, 2016, Dwight J. Behrendt, Sr., age 63, was called to be with our Heavenly Father. He passed away at home surrounded by loved ones. In 1992 Dwight went into business for himself and started American Electric Corporation here in New Braunfels, where he built many strong relationships within the community. Dwight had a passion for motorcycles. His enjoyment for riding took him on several long-distant trips which included rides to the Smokey Mountains, Sturgis, San Francisco, and Yellowstone National Park. Most of all, Dwight was a beloved husband, father and friend who enjoyed gathering with friends and family. He was loved by everyone for his good sense of humor, his smile, and genuineness. His creativity, resourcefulness, and inventiveness only added to his admiration. Dwight was preceded in death by his father, Edmund Behrendt, his mother, Ruby Kruse Behrendt and by his brother, Eddie Behrendt, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Margie Behrendt; children, Cassie Boyd and husband, Stephen and D.J. Behrendt and wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Madison Jones, Lili Beeson and Carson Boyd; niece and nephew, Tonya McClary and Eddie Behrendt, Jr. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
