Edmund A. Fitzgerald

Edmund Adrian Fitzgerald November 26, 1937 – August 26, 2021 Edmund A. Fitzgerald, 83 of New Braunfels, Texas passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021. Edmund was born to the late Walter and Gentila Fitzgerald on November 26, 1937 in Yonkers, NY but was raised in Imperial Beach, CA. He graduated in 1956 from Mar Vista High School as well as barber school and started his adult career as a barber with two barbershops. Edmund married the love of his life; Carol on July 15, 1961. They spent 58 years together. After returning from their honeymoon, he was called by Uncle Sam into the Army. After the Army, Ed went into the automotive industry where he spent the rest of his career. In 1989, he took that knowledge to Costco Wholesale, and started the automotive buying program. After eighteen years, he retired from Costco in 2007. He is preceded in death by his wife; Carol, his parents; Walter SR and Gentila, younger sister; Virginia and younger brother; James. Ed is survived by his children; Paige Vest (Marty), Jeff Fitzgerald (Maria), Jennifer Brinkerhoff (Scott) and Todd Fitzgerald (Marika), brother; Walter Fitzgerald (Julia), Brother-In-law; Richard DiCerchio (Christine), grandchildren; Audra Fitzgerald (Stewart), Alex Vest, Meghan Brinkerhoff, Aidan Brinkerhoff, Nicole Fitzgerald, Anna Fitzgerald, Felicia Fitzgerald, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Anyone who knew Ed knew he never met a stranger and was a great storyteller. He loved to travel, his family, cars and meeting people. Ed loved spending time with family and friends and was the first one to offer a lending hand. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
