Elmer Earl Sparrow, Jr.

Elmer Earl Sparrow, Jr., age 92 and a resident of New Braunfels, passed away peacefully at home on Monday evening, April 24, 2023. He was born on July 23, 1930 in Colfax, LA to the late Elmer Earl Sparrow and Dorthy Alberta Hebert Sparrow. Earl proudly served his country in the US Air Force Security Service in Guam, Taiwan, Panama and Vietnam, retiring after 20 years. He loved people and found real estate a perfect fit, eventually managing and owning a Century 21 brokerage. Earl became an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served whole heartedly wherever he was stationed or employed and known for his cheerful dedication and sense of humor. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorthy Alberta Sparrow, wives Ellyn Threet and Nancy Jacobs; daughter, Maribeth Merton; brothers, Ray, Aubrey and Andrew Sparrow, and by sisters, Ruby, Yetta and Dorothy. Survivors include his loving wife of 13 years, Kathy Jo Sparrow; children, Stephen Whiteside Sparrow (wife LaRue), Mark Sparrow (wife, Shirley), Cindy Coach (husband Todd), Nathan Sparrow, Amy Sparrow and Sarah Sparrow; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Also surviving are Earl's sisters, Gilda Bunting (husband Huck) and Glenda Rae Slayter (husband Lamar). Visitation will be held from 2PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1390 Hanz Dr. in New Braunfels, with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM. Interment with full military honors is scheduled for 10:45 AM on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
