Franklin "Shorty" Otto Preusser, 85, of New Braunfels, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at his home. Born on November 1, 1933 in New Braunfels, he was the son of the late Marvin and Alide (Zunker) Preusser. Franklin was preceeded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Leatrice Joyce Preusser; brother, Hilmar Preusser; and sisters, Lorine Weber and Elinor Peschel. Survivors include his children, Cindy and husband Bryan Ploch, Sandra and husband Steve Sebera, and Kenny and wife Rhonda Preusser; grandchildren, Travis Ploch, Raabe Preusser and Wesley Ploch; one great-grandson, Waylon Ploch; sisters, Lillian Soechting and Anna Schneider; and brother, George Preusser and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a machinist and welder by trade and was the owner of Shorty's Golf Cart Repair for 25 years. In his spare time, he coached and umpired Little League, taught Sunday school and was a leader of the Youth Fellowship group at church. After he retired you would often find him in his garage working on a woodworking project or even a piece of furniture. But despite all of this, he always had time to help his children or grandchildren when they needed him. He and Leatrice loved to go dancing in their younger (and even older) days and even did a little travelling. He was our father and our friend and will be sorely missed. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Following interment, a Celebration of Life will be held at Barbarossa Bowling Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area, 3353 Morningside Dr., New Braunfels, Texas 78132.
