Frederick Cyr, Jr.

frederick cyr, jr.
Fred was born in Charleston, Maine on April 9, 1944; and passed away in his home in New Braunfels, Texas on December 9, 2022. Digging for clams, coastal fishing, and eating corn on the cob, clams, and lobster at family picnics, were some of his favorite childhood memories. He never lost his love of the outdoors – hunting & fishing with his kids and grandkids; and feeding the “local” deer. Fred is preceded in death by his father (Alfred), his mother (Alma), and his eldest son, Duane Cyr. He is survived by his three adult children - Cindy Williams (and husband Randy), Ken Cyr (and wife Annette), and Melissa Moseley (and husband Kurt); his grandchildren – Katrina LeMond, Ryan Haecker, Angelique Cyr, Nicholas Cyr, and Christopher Cyr; and three great-granddaughters – MaKenna LeMond, KourtLyn LeMond, and Xochi Haecker. Dear Lord God, Father in Heaven, we pray for our dearly departed father, Fred. We ask that you forgive his sins and accept him in paradise. May your Angels open the doors to Heaven and let him in, to be with our brother. Wash away all his pain and suffering in this life and replace it with Eternal Peace and Joy in Your Presence. May You be with him always. In Jesus’ holy name, we pray. Amen.

  1. Although a man of few words, my Pop Pop was a truly wonderful man. There was never a goodbye that didn’t include a great big hug and a kiss on the cheek. I will miss him terribly, but know that I will see him again someday. Love you, Pop Pop.

  2. My name is Holly Hair – Mr. Cyr was a very nice man. While I didn’t know him very long he was a good friend to my mom and joined my family at my home for a few gatherings. It was great having an opportunity to bring him an early Thanksgiving meal during my recent visit to see my mom. He will be missed and I am happy to have had a chance to get to know him. Be at peace now my friend. – Holly

  3. Daddy,

Words can’t even begin to explain just how much you mean to me. I am saddened with your passing, but very thankful for the time we had. You will truly be missed!

    All my love,
    Lissa

  4. My name is Betty, Freddy was my cousin. He was my first crush. He was 8 years older than me. He used to spend a lot of time at my house. He loved my mother Evelyn and my step father Vince. I remember when he brought Barbara home to meet mama and Vince. I was devastated. I was about 9 years old and thought my heart would never mend. I went and hid in the closet. Freddy came in and talked to me and made me feel much better, maybe not happy about Barbara, but better. He was a wonderful man, and will be missed by many. Betty Wright ❤️

    • Larry and Elnora would love to stay in touch with you all and get to know you Fred would have loved that we do .

  5. I am Mary and Freddie was my cousin . He was always a great friend to me. When we were kids I would steal apples from his fathers orchard and would chase me out of the trees. His father not Freddie. He loved coming to my house and having baked beans and home made bread made by Evelyn my mother. I spend a lot of time visiting Barbara and we became friends.

  6. Daddy…
I’ll miss your hugs, and I’ll miss your stories.
But, most of all, I’ll miss having you in our life.
    LuvYa!
    Cindy

  7. My favorite memory of Pop Pop is going to his apartment, looking at his pictures, and standing on his balcony.

  8. We are Larry and Elnora Scofield and we loved Fred, he and Larry were cousins . As far as we know Freds father was an Uncle to Larrys mother Lorena King and a brother to lorenas mother Laura. Fred used to go to Evelyns and Lorena’s for meals , the two women being sisters made sure Fred had food in his belly and clean clothes for many years. They loved him and watched over him as best they could. Fred came to stay with Larry and i for about 3 months during the summer 46 years ago. We had some great times with him his only request that summer was fried deer steak and homemade biscuits and he certainly got his wish. He loved deer steak. That summer he worked for King Concrete pouring and working the concrete forms just so happened we were adding to our home in Milford that summer and we had posts in the ground and one day Fred pulled in with the cement truck and had left over cement from a job and poured our posts full of concrete you can bet he got deer steak that night . He had a heart of gold and a laugh that just filled any room with joy. He had so many friends in Maine he was loved by all.
Our hearts go out to all of you his Children he loved you all, he spoke of you all so much to us and he always got a tear in his eye doing so . May your Memories of your dad bring a smile to your face and peace to your hearts. He loved you all with all his heart.
Our memories will be of a wonderful man that brought with him stories after stories and a love of life and family and man he could cook a brisket in a smoker and make it stand up and sing it was so delish.
Walk with your lord and savior Fred Rest in peace we love you.
    Larry and Elnora

  9. We were fishing off the south coast of Texas and he got caught on a huge fish while he was sitting down and he fought it all the way to the surface. It broke off but it was really funny and definitely the highlight of that trip.

  10. This is my picture of Fred, always smiling and in a good mood. He loved feeding the deer and being outside. He had great bunch of friends and family and enjoyed talking about nature, fishing, squirrels and any creature that God created.
