Gary Robert Gaines

Gary Robert Gaines, born August 29, 1962 in Dallas, TX passed away into the loving arms of the Lord on June 1, 2013. He will be forever loved and missed by his three sons, Brandon Gaines of Lubbock, TX, and Gus and Sam Gaines of New Braunfels. Gary is survived by his mother, Carol Gaines of New Braunfels; father and step-mother, Robert and Pat Gaines of Abilene, TX; brother Greg Gaines, sister-in-law Linda, nieces Brielle and Lindsay of Denver, CO; mother Cindi Hitch of Pelham, AL; half-sisters Kim Spencer, Robin McKenzie, Lori Nickell of Birmingham, AL and half-brother, Ryan Nickell of Houston, TX; numerous step-siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Suzy Gaines Kirkland. After his adoption in Dallas, Gary grew up in Abilene, graduated from Abilene High School, attended San Angelo State and Texas Tech University, and proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the battleship U.S.S. Missouri stationed in Long Beach, CA. He has lived in New Braunfels for the past 18 years. It can truly be said that Gary never met a stranger and he leaves behind a large family of caring and loyal friends from Texas to California, and places beyond. A celebration of Gary's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2013 at First Baptist Church of New Braunfels, 733 Cross Street, New Braunfels, TX.
