  1. Helen was a lovely, gracious lady. She brought out the best in everyone. She will be truly missed by those who were lucky enough to know her. My dad sat at the same table at Elan with Helen, so we all shared quite a few meals together. I never met anyone who loved ice cream more than Helen. One of the happiest times we had together was the evening she couldn’t decide what to have for dinner. After weighing all her choices, all of the sudden she got a great big smile on her face and announced that she was going straight to desert…two giant scoops of Rocky Road. She beamed the entire time she was eating it. The whole table wished they had made the same choice! She was truly someone who knew how to enjoy life. With sympathy and love, Kathleen (Hill) Butts

  2. What a beautiful lady and how fortunate my siblings and I were to have been able to experience being with her. The first evening dinner my dad and I shared with her, we found out she had grown up 8 blocks from our mother and had attended the same high school. The next night she brought her Jeffersonian with her which meant I had to bring my mother’s the following meal. Both were Lasso girls. Her innocence in her presentation brought so much laughter. Upon leaving Elan at night, I would pass by her room with her door open and know she was still up watching TCM. “Weave me the sunshine, Lord.” Darrell Hill
