In July 2012, he retired and he and Judy moved to New Braunfels, Texas shortly afterward to be close to family. Steve served in the National Guard from 1963 to 1969. He loved the World War II era and was a collector of all WWII military equipment. Steve was a member of the National Rifle Associate and the Odessa Pistol Club, where he earned several medals as a sharp-shooter. Steve loved his family and enjoyed vacations with them.
