IOANNIS “YANNI” OUSAKLIDIS
Ioannis Ousaklidis, affectionately known by all as Yanni, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 10, 2020 in Blanco County, Texas at the age of 54. Yanni was born on August 11, 1966 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Konstantinos Ousaklidis and Erma Moore Ousaklidis. Yanni was the owner and operator of Yanni’s Heating and Air Conditioning here in New Braunfels. Yanni was a veteran of the United States Air Force as well as the Air National Guard. He was enormously proud of his Greek heritage but even more proud of serving his country. His was a life of service. Service to his God, his country, his family, and his community. Yanni was a larger than life individual in both stature and personality. The only thing bigger than his presence was his heart. He had never met a stranger, that did not become a friend, and all friends instantly became family. His smile and laughter were known to light up the room by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Konstantinos and Erma Ousaklidis. Survivors include his loving wife, Wanda Ousaklidis; children, Anastasia, Konstantinos, Eleni and Stavros Ousaklidis and the future child of Konstantinos (his first grandchild); brothers, Dimitri and Nico Ousaklidis and by his sister, Kim Flippen. He is also survived by the thousands of “brothers and sisters” that he had accumulated in the New Braunfels area. The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Holy Archangels Greek Orthodox Monastery Church, 2191 Twin Sisters Dr., Spring Branch, TX 78070. Interment will follow at the Holy Archangels Monastery Cemetery on the church grounds. A Celebration of Yanni’s life will follow at 4:00 PM at The Palms Lounge, 6162 FM 725, New Braunfels 78130.

Dear Wanda and family, Joe and I were so saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Yanni. We are sorry for your incredible loss. Yanni didn’t know us when we called the first time years ago because our AC was acting up. He came out the same day to confirm our warranty company’s diagnosis without even charging us. We now bypass our home warranty company’s “referrals” because of their slow response and ineptness and became Yanni customers for life! We have used your company now exclusively and have never been disappointed as you and Yanni have gone over and above any and all expectations for service! It was Yanni’s kindness and generosity that impressed us the most and we felt we could trust him. Our town is just a little less bright without his kind of integrity to work hard and be fair. I know your family will continue his legacy with this well-loved and reputable company when sweet Wanda is at the helm! Thank you, Yanni, for your service to this community. I remember riding the bus with Yanni in Jr High (what it was called back then : ) he always made it fun with jokes and not knowing what he was going to say or do next. He made everyone feel like a friend. He will be truly missed. sending prayers to his family.
Yanni was a man of great quality and character. Please accept our deepest sympathy and prayers during this difficult time of grief.
My Husband and I, are new residents to New Braunfels. Yet in our year and a half – we met Yanni. He came out to handle an emergency service call for us. What we found instead was a kindred spirit!! We had so much in common and talked for an hour. Such a short time, but meaningful to all 3 three of us. Our community has lost one of it’s best members. Dear Family – we are so sorry for your loss. You will be in our prayers very often through this time of grief and transition.

Our parents were great friends, and we visited often in the mid 70s. All of us kids would play kickball or some other game in the court where he lived in Chesapeake. He was always quick to smile. In later years when we became reacquainted on Facebook, he spoke of his family and the great love for his wife, Wanda. Though we disagreed politically, we no longer spoke about it. The last message I sent him was prayers for healing after hearing about his knee surgery. I am not surprised to read about his many friends and his contributions to his community in TX. My condolences to his family, and to his friends.
Ioannis was my brother. He was everything to everyone. He was loved by all. He was my first friend, my first playmate, my little brother, and I miss him everyday of my life. If you were a friend of my brothers, you are family, and I may know you personally or by his stories he was famous for sharing. I miss you brat, but your memory will never die.
