Janet Lee Shoemaker Salvermoser, age 87 passed away peacefully on August 6th, 2020 at her home in New Braunfels, Texas, with her family at her side. Janet is survived by her husband of 61 years, Rudolph “Rudi” Salvermoser, a daughter, Anna Victoria “Vicki” Coster and husband Mark, a granddaughter, Kathleen Coster and husband, Leo Lopez, with whom all shared a home in New Braunfels. She is also survived by a sister, Anna DeLois Beilstein, and a cousin, Lorraine Haben; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews; and four grandsons from her son Thomas Rudolph Salvermoser. She is predeceased by her parents, John Henry Shoemaker and Anna Louis Watkins; her son Thomas Rudolph Salvermoser; and three of her siblings: John Allen Shoemaker; Alvin Leroy Shoemaker. and Jeanette Eileen Semuta. Janet was born in Brookmont, Maryland on January 2nd, 1933. She graduated from Western High School in Washington, DC. After High School, Janet worked at the Defense Mapping Agency where she met her husband, Rudi. In addition to Brookmont, Maryland and New Braunfels, Texas, she lived in Damascus, Maryland; Las Cruces, New Mexico (where Rudi worked at White Sands Missile Range); Bethesda, Maryland; and Orlando, Florida. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Janet was a spiritual woman, whose faith in God sustained her. Her personal qualities of warmth, good humor, her listening ear, and her caring ways, endeared her to all. She was an accomplished artist in oil and water painting. She also enjoyed sewing and cross stitching. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. A memorial service for Janet will take place in the Washington, DC area at a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her niece, the Reverend Dr. Joan E. Beilstein, will preside over the service.
