Joseph P. Chamberlain, a resident of New Braunfels, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, February 8, 2020 at Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin at the age of 69. Joseph was born on April 8, 1950 in San Antonio to the late Joseph P. Chamberlain and Mary Cmielewski Chamberlain. Joe or “Bebe” as his family would call him, worked in the textile industry at Iselin Mill for 28 years and retired in 2015 from American Bullet Proof Products in Cibolo, Texas. On June 29, 1968 he married the love of his life, Diane. Together, they raised 2 children and a granddaughter, a son, Mark, a daughter, Stephanie and a granddaughter, Michaella. In his younger years, Joe enjoyed cruising around New Braunfels with Diane in his 1970 Mach 1 mustang listening to oldies and his beloved Elvis Presley. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish and ski on Lake Dunlap. Other hobbies Joe enjoyed included 9 pin bowling, restoration of vintage cars, and traveling, especially on family cruise vacations. One of his biggest accomplishments in life was the ownership of Coiffures DeVille Beauty Salon with Diane. For 42 years he assisted with the daily management of the family business. He found great joy in all the interactions with customers and employees and considered everyone he met a true friend. Joe loved spending time with his family and lifelong friends and truly valued these relationships. Among friends and family, Joe will be sorely missed by Presley and Elvis, his faithful shih tzu canine companions. Joe battled many illnesses during his life and developed close relationships with his care providers including many physicians and nurses. Joe’s family would like to sincerely express their gratitude for the wonderful care you provided to him over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Hugh Chamberlain, Corine Patterson, Richard Joe Chamberlain, Joseph Chamberlain, Jr. and Mary Alice Zimmerman. Survivors include his loving wife of 52-years, Diane Chamberlain; children, Mark Chamberlain and wife, Shannon and Stephanie Riding and husband, Sam; grandchildren, Michaella Even and husband, Jason, Morgan Chamberlain, Aiden Riding and Torrey Chamberlain; great-grandson, Camden Even; siblings, Joseph Duffek Chamberlain, Ann Wesolick, Ida Grove and Cynthia Pramuk. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. A reception will be held in St. Mary’s Hall of the church immediately following the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
