Joyce M. Darius

Joyce Marie "Rhee" Darius, 71, of Canyon Lake, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in Wimberley, Texas, after a long, ferocious battle with breast cancer. Born on June 20, 1942 in Vernon, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Ruby Pitchford Vaughn. Joyce is survived by her beloved husband, Leo Darius; sons, Gerald Williams of Austin, Texas and Travis Williams of Rosharon, Texas; brothers, Keith Vaughn of Tool, Texas, Norman Vaughn and wife Judy of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters-in-law, Joyce Vaughn and Gertie Darius, both of Arlington, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Vaughn; niece, "Susie" Giles; nephew, Stewart Vaughn; and great-nephew Paul Giles. Friends and acquaintances knew her as Joyce, but to her family she will always be "Rhee." Several nieces had ongoing rivalries, because each one knew she was Aunt Rhee's favorite. Rhee loved to travel with family and friends. She often spent countless hours reliving her favorite trips while watching her famous vacation videos. Her love of travel; however, paled in comparison to her love of family. Rhee was happiest when she was entertaining family and friends at the lake. Those who had the privilege of staying at the "Darius Inn" knew there would always be plenty of good food, freshly made beds (as only she could make), country music, and lots of love, laughter and bacon. Rhee worked for many years as a CNA and med-aid and had a special love for the elderly. She was also a talented stained glass artist. Rhee made many beautiful stained glass windows seen throughout the Hill Country; however, the windows she made for the Greater Life Church in New Braunfels, Texas, in memory of her mother, Ruby Vaughn, were most special to her. Rhee, you were a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. We were greatly blessed to have you in our lives. We love you dearly and you will forever be in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Lux Funeral Home Chapel, 1254 Business 35 N, New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
