Kathy Lorraine Ampelas, a resident of Cibolo, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Resolute Health Hospital in New Braunfels at the age of 65. Kathy was born on October 14, 1950 in Rosenberg, TX to the late James Wilburn Goates and Betty Louise Norman Goates. Kathy loved the Lord and her family with all her heart and soul. She had the sweetest smile and was a kind and gentle spirit to everyone that touched her life. When she gave you a hug, you knew you had been hugged by one of God's Angels. While her family and friends will miss her loving presence and that special twinkle in her eye, they take peace at knowing that she has been reunited with those loved ones that have gone before her. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Virginia. Survivors include her loving husband of 27-years, Philip Ampelas; children, John David Alberthal, Jeffery Wayne Alberthal and wife, Colleen, Raymond Paul Mensik and wife, RaNell; grandchildren, Jordan, Sarah, Christopher, Paul, Dale and Dillon; great-grandson, Connor; brother, James Goates and wife Doris; sisters, Elaine Dreymala and husband, James, Norma Howard and husband, Gene, Carrol Hargreaves, Donna Harrell and husband, Hal, Danna Binder and husband, Chris and Mary Beth Nelson and fianc, Mike. In addition, Kathy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Cross of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1530 Kitty Hawk Rd in Universal City. A reception will follow at the church.
