Larry Webb

Mr. Larry Lee Webb peacefully entered into his heavenly home on August 3rd, 2020 at the age of 79. Also known as “Dad” and “Grandpa,” Larry was dearly loved by many family and friends through the years. Born on November 15th, 1940 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Larry lived a full life encompassing his family, adventure, and service to others. He grew up in the small town of Pinckney, MI, later moving to Schertz, TX after joining the Air Force and being stationed at Randolph AFB. Perhaps the most pivotal part of his life happened during that time as a young serviceman, when a good friend introduced Larry to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His life was changed. And it was during those early years that he met the love of his life, Donna, at First Baptist Church of Schertz. The two soon married and built a beautiful life together. They raised 3 children and were involved in serving the local church and community through the years. With Larry’s small-town roots, his love for cars, and a big heart for helping others, he successfully built and managed a thriving auto repair business for over 20 years, called Larry’s Automotive. He was loved and respected by many loyal customers through the years, and his greatest endeavor was not only to help his customers with their cars, but to be a friend. And that, he was. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, gun and knife collector, and ham radio operator. He loyally served his community as a reserve police officer for both the City of Schertz and the Guadalupe County Sheriffs Dept. for many years. Larry loved building and riding motorcycles, as well as racing cars. He got an early start to racing by working at Chrysler Proving Grounds and test track in Michigan, and was often the first to test-drive Mr. Richard Petty’s race cars around the track. Over the years, he was most at home while out in nature with his trusted dog companions, working on cars, or maybe watching one of his many favorite Westerns starring John Wayne. One of his best stories he talked about was when he had the opportunity to drive Mr. Wayne to Brackettville, TX for the filming of the Alamo movie. It was a moment he remembered for life. Larry had more than a few run-ins with rattlesnakes from his Texas hunting days and he lived to tell about them all. He listened to what Paul Harvey had to say on the radio for many long years. And we can almost picture him in heaven right now, sitting with Mr. John Wayne and Mr. Paul Harvey, good, strong cup of coffee in hand, talking about “the rest of the story.” He loved cats and could always be counted on for helping or adopting a little stray kitten. All of these qualities were just a small part of what made him unique, and he inspired his family to treasure many of those same things too. Larry is survived by his three children, Corey Webb and his wife Bonnie, Debbie McDaniel and her husband Troy, and Becky Kusak and her husband Chris. Larry is also survived by his eight grandchildren – Meagan (and her husband Aubrey), Kayla, Zack, Dawson, Tobey, Adriana, Noah, and Gracie. He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. Weir and Madge Webb, as well as his brother Mr. Lynn Webb, and we can be assured there is a great family reunion happening even now in heaven with all of his dear loved ones. Larry has left a legacy of light and love for all who knew him. His hunting stories, quick-witted jokes, and the presence of his life will be dearly missed. And though we grieve the deep loss of his life here on earth, God gives this wonderful reminder from His word, we “do not grieve as others who have no hope.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13 This hope in Christ, is the same hope that Larry carried throughout life, in all of its ups and downs, over joys and struggles, and it’s the same hope that carried him safely to heaven. It’s what carries us still today… Resting in His Peace. All is well. “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;” John 11:25 “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:1-6 A family service will be held in Pinckney, MI. 1. This is Jeff Farver who is a first cousin to Larry. He was a little older than I am but he use to come and stay a few days at our house when I was a kid and teenager. He always liked to take me to monster movies in Ann Arbor when I was at Aunt Madge’s house visiting. I hadn’t seen Larry since Uncle Weir sold their house and moved to Texas. I have a lot of good memories of him and his brother Lynn. His mom, Aunt Madge was a sister to my mom. Will miss him very much. There aren’t too many first cousins left in our family anymore. Rest in Peace dear cousin. Love Jeff

  2. Our family sends our deepest sympathy during this time of loss and keep you all in our thoughts and prayers during this time.
