Linda Bielstein

linda bielstein
Linda Mae Bielstein (Waxler) passed away at the age of 92 on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Kirkwood Manor in New Braunfels, Tx. Born December 28, 1926 in Seguin, Tx, she was the oldest of eight children born to the late Max and Ottilia (Saengerhausen) Waxler. In 1944, Linda proudly graduated from Seguin High School and then married Monroe Bielstein on her eighteenth birthday. From early on, Linda learned to play the harmonica and sew clothes for the family. She loved taking a special dish to pot lucks and sharing those special recipes. Linda and Monroe had some amazing gardens and enjoyed sharing vegetables with neighbors, family and friends. Hunting in the winter and fishing in the summer was just a normal part of life for her. Linda had a passion for reading and proudly collected a huge library of books… books that would teach you something… not just entertain you. After Monroe passed, Linda started doing lots of volunteering at the New Braunfels Senior Center. One thing she was known for was always having a joke or two to share. When at home, she enjoyed her reading, sudoku and word find puzzles, watching the hummingbirds, and looking forward to that next Spurs game. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by Monroe Bielstein (husband), Elsa McLeod (sister), and Cooper Cochran (grandson). She is survived by her daughter, Carol Cochran (Bob Ed), grandson, Chase Cochran (Amanda), granddaughter, Calli Laubach (Clint), great-granddaughters, Falon Cochran, Paxtyn Cochran, and Kody Lynn Laubach, and siblings, Velma Collier, Thelka Harborth, Melvin Waxler (Joann), Lillian Doege (Frank), Sylvia Engelke, and Vivian Heskew. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A celebration of life will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Unity of New Braunfels, 408 Gruene Rd, New Braunfels, TX 78130. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Kirkwood Manor and Hope Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Braunfels Senior Center or Unity of New Braunfels in her honor.
