Loretta Holmberg Halsey, a resident of New Braunfels, passed away at her home on Tuesday January 24, 2023 at the age of 79. Born on September 13th, 1943 in Cuero, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Holmberg and Brittie Cleghorn. Loretta graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1965 with a bachelors degree in elementary education. Following graduation, she went to work for American Airlines as a flight attendant and later as an instructor at American’s in-flight academy. She was married to Marcus Halsey of Lubbock, Texas on October 30th, 1971 and moved to Houston to manage the inflight department at Continental Airlines. She stepped away for several years to raise her two sons and later returned to work for American Airlines training and consulting and later with United Healthcare working in project management and retired at the age of 72. In her later years she was extremely active in community outreach with Seeds of Love, Al-Anon, and her Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church here in New Braunfels. Loretta is survived by her sister Jo Ann Strickland, brothers Bobby Hugg and his wife Cindy, James Hugg and his wife Susan, sister-in law Sudie Graham, son Marcus Halsey and his wife Janette, grand-daughters Justice Halsey and Kristen Holzhaus and her husband Grady, great-grandson Hayden Castro and great grand-daughter Madelyn Holzhaus, nephews Adam Graham and his wife Gina, Ben Rhodeland and his wife Amelia, Conner Strickland, Samuel Hugg and nieces Abbi Hearne and her husband Callen, Ellie Hugg, great-nephew Hudson Graham and great-niece Hyder Hearne. In addition to her parents Loretta is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Marcus Hopkins Halsey, son Bradford Halsey, sister Linda Hugg, and brother-in-law Don Strickland. Memorial services for Loretta will be held on February 4th at 11AM at First United Methodist Church in New Braunfels, Texas.   6. I had the privilege of being loretta’s, hairstylist for probably the last 10 years. I really enjoyed hearing her stories of her family. She was a very special lady, my sympathy to the family.

    She was also such a great friend, we spent many of dinners at Applebees which I will forever be grateful.
