Lynda Jo Kidd

Lynda Jo Farris Kidd, 79, former resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away July 2, 2019. Lynda Jo will be remembered for her loving wisdom, generous heart, quick wit, love of children, dogs, cats and that insufferable parrot. Above all things Lynda was kind. She was one of those rare people who not only believed but followed the teachings of her Lord, Jesus Christ. She accepted you as you were and expected you to behave accordingly. But even though she was a devoted Christian, she was also a Scorpio. That is all I am going to say about that. You were warned. You should have behaved. Lynda will be remembered for her humor. She was funny. Funny, ha, ha, that is, not peculiar. She worked many years for the Nueces County Health Department in Corpus Christi before taking the role of full-time nanny for Dr. Tanya Grun of New Braunfels and her two children, Anna Grace Grun and Emily Grun Policht who she successfully tended from infancy to young adulthood. She was nanny to Emily’s son, Michael, for two years. During the course of her employ she and Dr. Grun moved from Corpus Christi to Oklahoma, to Tennessee, and back to Texas where all God’s children naturally belong. Lynda will be remembered for her nurturing of wounded souls with her wisdom and caring heart. There are countless friends and relatives who were healed by her words and tender deeds. There was no fiercer friend than Lynda. She would counsel and if necessary she would write letters to even the archdiocese of Corpus Christi on your behalf. If parenting had not had such a strong calling for her, she’d have made a fine defense lawyer. Lynda was born to mother. She mothered everyone and everything. All of us are better for her love and attention. We will miss her counsel, love and friendship. We will miss not calling during her soap or her story as she called it. She was not a big fan of modern technology, but she mastered QVC like a white hat hacker. She did love jewelry. Lynda inherited our mother’s hands. She had beautiful hands to match the voice of an angel. She could sing. She could remember the words to every song up to about 1980, then her recollection fell off but then so did the lyrics. Lynda loved sweets and the baking of them. She liked watching sports on TV. The key word here is watching. She was not an athlete, but a fine supporter of those who were willing to move about the earth in ways peculiar to her nature. Lynda taught us to never pray for patience. Pray for anything but not patience. Because the only way to learn patience is for no good, rotten things to happen to you. So, as she’d say, “Don’t do that.” We will miss such wise counsel, but the thing we will miss the most is her, herself, her presence, her being. Her being—here with us. Lynda is survived by her (like a) daughter: Dr. Tanya Grun and children, grandchild, and by her daughter: Kelly (and Bobby) Warren, son: Harold (Bo) Dwayne (Barbara Trlicek) Kidd of Corpus Christi, TX, sister: Paula Stone of Houston, TX: brother, David (and Linda) Farris of Arlington, TX, granddaughter: Sara (and Jeff) Gavlik, grandson: Tyler Warren (and Kayla): granddaughters; Emily Grun Policht (and Cory), Anna Grace Grun; great-grandsons: Fisher Warren and Bryce and Wyatt Gavlik, Michael Grun, and Donny Policht; Great grand daughter; Chloe Policht; nieces and nephews: Ryan Farris, Robin Morehead, Barry Stone, Denise Tomlinson.
