Martin Floyd "Butch" Rankin, a proud veteran of the United States Army, passed away on February 17, 2023. Martin was born to Martin V. and Jeannie (Moore) Rankin on August 28, 1946 and grew up in Houston, Texas. At the age of 19, Martin enlisted in the Army and attained the rank of SP4 (T). As part of this service, he was a Communication Center Specialist. On November 30, 1968, Martin married Carmen M. Brooks. She survives with daughters; Betina Bynum and Tamera Kwist (John A.); grandchildren, Nicholas Rankin, Bryan Hauteman, John M. Kwist, and Lauren Kwist; a Great Grandson, Logan Hautemen and Martin's sister, Vicki Moyer. Martin is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Connie Parker, Roy Rankin, Milton Rankin and Lafe Rankin. Martin loved the Lord, studying the Scriptures and traveling. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 with a Service to begin at 11:00 AM at Cranes Mill Baptist Church, Canyon Lake, Tx. A Reception will immediately follow. Graveside services will be at 2:15 PM at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Tx. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15
