Matilde Cruz, a resident of Seguin, passed away at Nesbit Nursing Home in Seguin on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at the age of 72. Matilde was born on June 3, 1939 in New Braunfels to Enrique Cruz and Maria Rivera Cruz. He later married Susie Martinez. Matilde was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cecilia Munoz and by a brother, Celestino Cruz, Sr. Survivors include his beloved wife, Susie Gonzales; daughter, Michelle Cruz Robledo and husband, David; sons, Danny Cruz and wife, Diana, Richard Cruz and Nino Cruz; sisters, Betty Sanchez and husband, Benjamin and Yolanda Carreon and husband, Ralph; brothers, Enrique Cruz, Jr. and wife, Elena and Enocencio R. Cruz, Sr. and wife, Melba. In addition, Matilde is survived by 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:00 PM, all of which will take place on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume on Monday, November 28, 2011 from 8:00 AM to 10:45 AM. The funeral procession will depart the Lux Funeral Home Chapel at 10:45 AM for an 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Ignatius F. Himawan, M.S.F. as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
