Michael Clyde Morse

michael morse
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Michael Clyde Morse of New Braunfels, TX on January 6, 2023 at the age of 71 years. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of over 49 years, Gloria, children Matthew (Ashley) and Timothy (Sharon) and his six grandchildren, Kristina, Jack, Ethan, Kate, Ben and Brynn and brothers Steve (Pam) and Doug (Claire), as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Clothilde Morse. After completing studies at Alvin Junior College where he majored in Journalism, Mike worked for over thirty years as a computer and telecom technician for Texaco (Chevron) in Houston, Texas. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and volunteered his time with the local food pantry. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to New Braunfels where, in 2012, they opened a HoneyBaked Ham franchise store they would operate for the next six years. Mike spent most of his free time enjoying the outside where one could find him tending to the yard, building fires in the outdoor fireplace or just hanging out on the back porch. His greatest joy was his six grandchildren and his time spent with them. A service of worship and celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am on January 21, 2023 at Lux Funeral Home with the Rev. Monica Smith presiding. Memorial Donations may be made in Michael Morse’s name to the Nehemiah Center (302 Nolan Street, Navasota, TX 77868), a Christian based after-school program for at-risk children.

  1. We are deeply sorry for your loss ~ Lux Funeral Home & Cremation Services

  2. Mike and my husband, Clem Brown, were good friends and had lots of laughs working together at Texaco. I remember Mike came to our house one Saturday. We were trimming trees. Mike could climb a tree just like a monkey; the higher the climb the better !! Mike and I always stayed in touch because our birthdays were only two days apart and we’re the same age; he never forgot.

  3. I worked with Mike for many years at Texaco. He was a very friendly person and a hard working person. So sorry to hear of his passing. Will always be remembered. And missed. Oscar Hermis

  4. I will miss Mike’s smiling face and his laugh so much. I will miss the IMs we shared over the last few years. Mike loved to send photos of the deer that came to his yard in New Braunfels. As a child, I thought he was so handsome and in at least one family photo, I am sitting as close to him as I can get on the couch. His brothers, Steve and Doug, remind me that Mike used to put on a Wolfman mask and chase me. Well, they were all pranksters as teens!

  5. Gloria,
So sorry to read about Mike, I always enjoyed his company when he accompanied you to the office.
Praying for peace and comfort for you and your children and grandkids.
    Sincerely,
    Fred Matthews

  6. I went through school with Mike. He always was a very nice guy. We then ended up working at Texaco where our paths crossed. He was always so proud of his family.
Later, we were on Facebook and I loved seeing the pictures that he posted. He posted plenty of nature pictures, deer, his beautiful property, his family, and his grandchildren.
Gloria and family: please accept my deepest sympathy in your loss. May God bless each of you and give you peace.
    Sandra L. (Crain) Dear

  7. I’m late with this note. Just researched Mike’s status, wondering why I haven’t heard from him in a long while, and why my email to him bounced back. Now I know. .Don’t know if you’ll ever read this, being that it’s so long after Mike’s passing…Gloria (and family), my condolences to you all. I’m John Miller. One of Mike’s friends from our Saint Arnold days. So many fond memories of Mike, and his brother Doug, as we gathered at Saint Arnold’s on Saturdays. As well as the trip we took to Denver for the Great American Beer Festival. And the hospitality you both showed us when we visited your Guadeloupe River house. Mike was a dear friend and always shared great kindness, humor, and friendships to me and our mutual friends. My deepest sympathies to you, Gloria, and your family. Mike is already greatly missed. GOD’s peace, love, and blessings to you all.
    ~John Miller
