Nan Delia Haywood

nan haywood
Nan Delia Haywoods life journey began January 17, 1963, in Austin, Texas where she was born to the late Norcell D. Haywood and Joyce Marie Smith Haywood. She was granted her angel wings on September 16, 2017 in New Braunfels, after a courageous battle with cancer. She accepted Christ at a very early age at her family's church home, Second Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. Her father was an architect and her mother an educator in the San Antonio Independent School District. Nan spread her wings to Buffalo, NY before returning home to San Antonio where she resided until her journey home. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Nan had touched in some small way throughout her memorable life. Nans life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her, understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her infectious smile and loving spirit brought so much joy to her family. She attended Sam Houston High School in San Antonio, TX, and graduated in 1981. During her time at Sam Houston, Nan was a vivacious cheerleader for her beloved Cherokees. Her love for the law drove her to continue her education at the University of Texas -San Antonio (UTSA), where she obtained a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice in 1987. Nan continued her education at Our Lady of the Lake University, where she was perusing her Masters of Science in Education. Nan was a beautiful, strong, wise and funny individual. She was a long-time Juvenile Probation Officer in Bexar County for more than 13 years, until she became ill. She was not able to return to the work she loved, but she gave courage and hope to those she served and reminded us of the preciousness of life. Nan was preceded in death by her father, Norcell D. Haywood. Loving memories will be forever cherished by her mother Joyce Marie Haywood-Lovelady. Nan is survived by her children Erica Haywood, Terrence Littlefield Jr., Elizabeth Littlefield; grandchildren Marckus McNeil, Maliyah Blackmon, Michael Blackmon, & Matthew Blackmon, brothers Michael Cary Obershan, David Norcell Haywood and sister Natalie Dawn Haywood, sister in-law Lelah Moseley-Haywood, niece Maya Rice; aunts Lois Mabry, Ann Brown, Judy Breaux-Brown and a host of other family and friends. Nan will truly be missed by her family friends and the many people whose lives she touched.

No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die”. (Isaiah 57:1-2, NIV) Believe that God has protected Nan as He is protecting her family. She went through the battle of cancer for the protection of her children.
