Petra E. Chavez

petra chavez
On November 18, 2022, Petra Esparza Chavez passed away peacefully at age 78 at Nesbit Living & Recovery in Seguin, TX. Petra lived in the Rio Grande Valley most of her life. She was residing in New Braunfels, TX for the last several months of her life. She was born to Lucio and Elvira Sandoval Esparza February 28, 1944, in Raymondville, TX. She was married to her late husband, Nicholas Chavez and together shared a large family of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, several of whom they raised as their own. Petra is survived by two of her biological children; Sylvia C. Tostado (Joe) of New Braunfels and Eloy R. Cavazos Jr. (Tina) of Arlington, TX. and by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by three siblings: Fred Esparza, Juan Esparza, and Gloria E. Calvo. Petra is predeceased by her loving husband Nicholas Chavez, Benjamin Cavazos (son), Maria Idalia C. Sauceda (daughter) and Deneva C. Sanchez (daughter). Petra enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, cooking, gardening (she could make just about anything grow) and more than anything loved her family and friends, she lived life fully. She was known as β€œsister” and β€œmom” to many of her nieces, nephews, and others in her large circle of influence. She is and will always be remembered for her love of life, her contagious smile, and her robust laughter. We would like to thank the staff at Nesbit Living and Recovery of Seguin, Bluebonnet Palliative Care, and Lux Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC for their care, love, and friendship. Each one served Petra and her family well and in so many ways went above and beyond in the attention given at just the right time. We would also like to thank New Generations Fellowship for the prayerful support and for hosting the Celebration of Life. The family will honor the life of Petra E. Chavez in a Celebration of Life Service on December 3, 2022, at New Generations Fellowship, 2719 FM 725 New Braunfels, TX. at 3:00 pm. Burial services will be held in La Sara, TX at the Chavez Cemetery on December 17, 2022 (time to be determined).
