Phyllis Lynn Gaut Price, age 74, and a resident of Bulverde, Texas passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Phyllis was born on September 29, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA. She spent her life as a devoted military wife and mother. She was also a loving grandma, sister, aunt, and granddaughter. Of all her roles, being MeMe was her heart’s completion. She was loved by many, and loved so many more. If you were in need, Phyllis would always lend a hand. She lived and traveled the world, loved to entertain, was a fierce fighter, had a passion for genealogy, fishing and slots, and had a memory beyond compare. Phyllis was an advocate for women’s equality when she fought to become the first woman police officer in Kentucky. She was a lover of Jesus and those in need. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 56-years, Terry Price; son, Jacob Price and fiancé, Heidi Voss; daughter, Misty Mayo and son-in-law, Ted Mayo. She was a doting grandmother to Shelby Price, Gabby Mayo, Grace Mayo and TJ Mayo. She was the oldest of her siblings: Orlando Gaut (& Kathy); Debra McEnnis (& Michael “Pat”); Franklin Gaut; Sherri Lathrop ( Pamela Miller (& Michael); Lynda Pellerito; Pat O’Conner; John Marston; Mark Marston (& Robin); and sister-in-law Kaya Gaut. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Orlando Parks Gaut, Jr. and Lucille Holloway Gaut Marston; a stepmother, Dominga Mason; a stepfather, Earl Marston; a brother, Michael Gaut; a sister, Marilyn Marston; an infant son, Terry Lynn; and a grandson, Kian Price. A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Rebecca Creek Baptist Church, 11755 US Hwy 281, Spring Branch, TX 78070. Burial services for the family will be held at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Rebecca Creek Baptist Church, 11755 US Hwy 281, Spring Brach, TX 78070 / rebeccacreek.org or to the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, 6401 Wenzel Road, San Antonio, TX 78266 / auxiliary.dav.org.
