Rae Nelle Batey was born to Edgar and Bernice Eberhardt on December 14, 1937 in Comal County. She ended her battle with cancer on Wednesday November 7, 2018 surrounded by her family at the age of 80. Rae Nelle is preceded in death by her father, mother, Brother in Law Dean, and daughter in law Barbara. She is survived by her Sister Joyce Langford, Companion C. W. Grumbles (Shorty); Children Jeff Batey, Carrie (Gary) Henk, and Cindy Pierson (Joe Stewart); Grandchildren Brandon (wife Tuesday) Batey, Abbey Batey, Kambrie (Lane) Grimm, Hallie Pierson, Darci Pierson: Great Grandchildren Tucker, Levi, and Lily; and beloved dog Scotty. Rae Nelle lived a very fulfilling life. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren beyond measure. She was such a dedicated mother and grandmother, she never missed a game, recital, or award ceremony. She enjoyed baking for every occasion, especially Christmas. Fishing on the San Marcos river, sewing, and reporting the news to anyone who would listen. She spent her evenings working puzzles and enjoying a good round of Wheel of Fortune. There was never a time when you walked into her home and old westerns or Elvis movies weren’t playing. Her happiest times were when her family was all together; she was known for being the first to always show up. She took pride in her family and wore many names, Grandma being her favorite. Rae Nelle captured the hearts of anyone in her presence and loved her family well, she will be missed beyond measure and fondly remembered. Services will be held graveside at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Cemetery on November 9, 2018 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon followed by a reception at the Albert Kypfer hall in Clear Springs, Texas.
