Randolph Robert Anderson, 74, of Seguin, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at his home. Born on October 2, 1946 in Taylor, Texas, he was the son of the late Eric Paul Anderson and Geraldine Malish Anderson. Randy grew up in San Angelo, Texas. After high school graduation and a semester at Angelo State University, he enlisted in the Navy. Although he did not have a great appreciation for the Navy while he served, he later looked fondly on his experiences and several lifelong friends made while in the Navy. He circumnavigated the world twice, and spent time in South East Asia. He visited many countries during his travels. After the Navy he returned to San Angelo and attended Angelo State University. He moved to Austin and also attended the University of Texas. He ultimately received a degree in Psychology from Angelo State. After college he worked for a short time for the Lighthouse for the Blind in Austin but ultimately went back to carpet installation and carpentry in Austin and San Angelo. He ultimately worked for Dillards construction subsidiary for many years, becoming a superintendent. His work took him to jobs all across the Southern U.S. He put thousands of miles on his pickup, traveling to get back home a couple of weekends a month. That company eventually closed its doors and Randy did some carpentry projects and then spent a few years working for the Bo weevil eradication program in Seguin before he retired. Randy had a number of interests. He loved deer season and deer hunting. He faithfully watched 48 Hours and all the Street Outlaw episodes. He was an avid reader, especially books by Elmer Kelton, a well-known western author from San Angelo. He had an extensive collection of vinyl albums that he enjoyed listening to. He especially liked a vintage electronics store in South Austin that specializes in turntables and old school stereo equipment. He loved the years he lived in Austin, following the music scene. He listened to Rush Limbaugh faithfully. One of his most important interests were his three grandsons, he spoke about them often, and he was involved with their lives and their education. He had high hopes for their futures. Randolph is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patti Anderson; stepson, Casey Scheffel; grandsons, Christian, Ashton, and Gavin; brother, Mark Anderson and his wife Evelyn; sister, Connie Morris and her husband, John; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Randolph was also preceded in death by his niece, Mandy. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel.
