Raul Valdez, a resident of New Braunfels, passed away at his home on Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2022, at the age of 78. Mr. Valdez was born on September 15, 1943 in Fredericksburg, TX. Raul served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps, having served in the Vietnam war. He later became a master mason. He enjoyed the sports of baseball, favorite team Atlanta Braves and football, Dallas Cowboys. An amazing and loving Father/Grandfather, he was humble and selfless always putting others needs before his own. Raul was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Santos Valdez and by two brothers, Greg and Epifanio Valdez. Survivors include his sons, Gilbert and David Valdez; daughter, Tina Valdez; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Esequiel and Pedro Valdez; sister, Mary Ana Garay; and by special cousins, Raymond Rodriguez and Lupe Herrera. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment with military honors is scheduled for 10:15 AM on Wednesday, April 27th at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

  3. Wow….what a legacy he left. I read this and see an amazing family that will keep his memory alive for generations. I did not know him but I do know his daughter Tina. I am sure she is a reflection of him…and with that said I can only imagine he was a wonderful, kind, hardworking person….with a great sense of humor.
