Regina Ann Hooper Gilger went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 26, 2013 surrounded by her family at the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin. Born on April 23, 1949 in Big Springs, TX, she was the daughter of the late Horace Dewayne Hooper and Alice Marie Brantley Payne. Regina was a resident of Seguin, though she was a long time resident of New Braunfels and graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1968. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and sang in the choir. In addition to her parents, Regina was preceded in death by her sister, Dorenda Marie May and husband Harry May. Regina is survived by her brothers, Benson Allen Griffin and his wife Marga, Clifford Lynn Griffin and his wife Kathy; sister, Dorinda Kay Bustamante and her husband Rudy; nieces and nephews, Emily Long and her husband Chess, Jenny Hauschild and her husband Matthew, Dana Griffin, Benson Griffin, II, Mara Griffin, Doak May and his wife Susan, Dorothy Ortiz and her husband Dusty, Jenna Long, Erin Kosub and her husband Anthony, Kintana Madrigal and her husband Roy. Also surviving are several cousins, great nieces and nephews and many great friends. Regina never met a stranger and was friends with everyone. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at First Baptist Church in New Braunfels. Interment will follow at Comal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to help offset funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated.
