Reuben Rivera, Sr., age 77, went to be with his lord and savior on August 16th 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto and Victorina Rivera and brother, Ernesto Rivera of Ft. Davis. Reuben is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Rivera; son, Ruben Rivera, wife Natasha and grandsons Jaxon, Cross and Kash, all of New Braunfels, daughter, Lynn Simpson, son-in-law John A. Simpson; grandson, John Simpson ll and granddaughter, Jennifer Simpson of Batesville, TX; daughter, Victoria Rivera-Avalos, son-in-law, Jr Avalos; grandson, Michael Austin and wife Courtney Austin; great-grandson, Chase Austin; grandson, James Austin; granddaughter, Alivia Sutton of Elizabeth City, NC and sister, Annie Lou Arispe and husband George. Reuben was born February 3rd 1944 in Ft. Davis, TX. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1962 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He moved to Hondo and accepted a position as an electrical line with Medina Electric where he stayed for over a decade. Reuben was a devoted family man and loving father. He and Helen married on September 19th 1964 and spent nearly 57 years raising and loving their family. Reuben enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son and many grandchildren and was a devoted Catholic. Reuben had an uncanny ability to make anyone laugh and was a remarkable story teller. His family and friends will always remember him as a great man who never met a stranger. Reuben is being cremated and no physical memorial will be held at this time due to Covid.
