Robert "Bob" Thrift

Robert “Bob” Thrift of New Braunfels, Texas went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of October 27th, 2021. Bob passed peacefully at home with his beloved wife of fifty five years, Beverly, and his daughter Candice, who has been a great comfort and support using her amazing nursing skills, by his side. Bob was born in Pasadena, Texas on August 8th, 1938 to Howard S. Thrift Jr. and Lucille (née Knighton) Thrift. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Judith Westbrook. Bob lived a full life growing up enjoying hunting and fishing with his father and brother, a tradition he continued with his son and grandchildren. He started a career in construction in San Antonio where he was involved in many organizations until his retirement. He worked as an estimator for several companies and was so proud when his son Travis followed in his footsteps. Bob and Beverly moved to New Braunfels in the late 1970’s where they raised their children. Bob was very involved in coaching many soccer teams and was instrumental in bringing Soccer to New Braunfels High School. After his retirement from the Construction Industry he followed his passion and started his own business as a fishing guide and loved his time on the water in Aransas Pass and Port Aransas. Bob was a deacon and member of First Baptist Church of New Braunfels and was a man of faith with a great love for the Lord. He was a very dedicated and loving Grandpa to his five grandchildren who will miss his wit, his quick and funny humor, his honesty and his passion & love for them. Bob is survived by his wife Beverly Thrift of New Braunfels: His brother Howard “Buddy” S. Thrift III and wife Sandra of Sugar Hill, Georgia: His son Travis Thrift and wife Emma Mozeley Thrift, daughter Candice Leigh Bishop his grandchildren Christian Pehl, Samantha Pehl, Charlie Thrift, Zoe Thrift and Macie Bishop all of New Braunfels. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. A service celebrating Bob’s life will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bob’s name may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Salvation Army.
