Robert D. "Tex" Farmer

robert farmer
Robert Dean Farmer passed on to be with his Heavenly Father on December 21, 2022 at the age of 93. Born July 1, 1929, he was known as Bobby Farmer from Amarillo, TX in his early life. Some know him as the ultimate Aggie, Tex Farmer class of ’52, and member of the Texas A&M Hall of Honor; for his on-field accomplishments in baseball and vast off-field contributions. Some know him as Bob Farmer, a legendary oil marketer executive. Many friends simply call him “B.” His most precious and rewarding titles were husband of 69 years to Mary Lou, “Nanny”, and Dad or “Bobbo” to his 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Bobbo was the ultimate Wish Grantor, not only to his kids and grandkids but to anyone he knew that was in need. He was preceded in death by many people whom he loved dearly, but most recently, his granddaughter, Lia – the first Wish-Kid in San Antonio. Nanny has asked that donations be made to Make-A-Wish in lieu of flowers to continue Bobbo’s legacy of making people happy! Those donations can be made at www.GigEmBobbo.com. To appropriately honor God’s humble servant and dear friend to many, a celebration of life service will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Canyon Springs Golf Club located at 24405 Wilderness Oak, San Antonio, TX 78260 with a reception immediately following.

Guestbook

  1. Bob was a parent, along with Mary Lou, to two wonderful 3rd graders I had in my class at Larkspur Elementary—-Beverly and Tex. I missed having Becky. The Farmers were actively involved parents and very supportive of the children and of me, the teacher. In later ye as as we renewed our relationship through our church. Again, Bob was actively involved and a great steadfast leader, plus a very nice man!!! My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. Heaven has gained a treasure!!
