Robert "Mike" Craig

robert craig
Mike Craig, 44, of Seguin, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at his home. Born on December 28, 1977 in Pasadena, Texas, he was the son of Toni Ann Casey and James Michael Craig. In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by his wife, Catarina Ann Craig. Mike Graduated from Smithson Valley High School in 1996. After completing high school he became an EMT-B at New Braunfels Fire Department 1996, EMT-I at Sam Houston State University 1997, EMT-P at Tyler Junior College in 1998, RN at UT Health School of Nursing in Houston in 1999, and studied Psychology & Biochemistry at Southwest Texas State 1997-2003. He earned his PhD in Psychology at The University of Texas at Austin in 2006. He obtained his Private Pilot license at Texas Southern University in 2006, and was a PADI SCUBA Diving Instructor. Mike was one of kind. He was crazy, ready for anything, and one person you could count on. If you met Mike, I’m pretty sure he left a big impression on you. He loved to talk and meet new people, especially those who wanted to learn. He was a wealth of knowledge and experience. He was a great mentor, even if he didn’t know it. He was loud and obnoxious whenever he knew he was right, which he prided himself on. He was the type of guy that was ready for anything, and willing to do whatever was needed of him. He loved the beach and warm places because all he wanted to do was dive. One of his dreams was to own his own boat and teach people how to dive. That was a love of his, as well as fast motorcycles. All he wanted to do was wear shorts and sandals all day and breathe underwater. He loved his wife and just wanted to make her happy, which he did. He was all about being a patient advocate and loved EMS and all that it had to offer. He loved being put in situations where he had to use critical thinking. He was an all-around wonderful man and someone that will forever leave a mark on you. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00-9:00 PM with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. 1. We are deeply sorry for your loss ~ Lux Funeral Home & Cremation Services

  2. So sorry for the loss of your husband. Our thoughts and prayers 🙏 are with you during this difficult time. ❤️ Love ❤️ Uncle Kevin and Aunt Lynn

  3. Dear Catarina, You had a radiant smile on your face whenever I saw you in a photo with Mike. Your connection with each other as well as your love shown through in the photos. I never met Mike but I heard what a good man he was from your dad. Please know I am so deeply sorry for you and your family. Love, Aunt Anne from Wisconsin

  4. I only had the pleasure of being around Mike a few times, but I will remember him as being a hard working, genuine man dedicated to the care of others. The last time I saw him, we were working in Austin together. He was so kind and patient to everyone around him, despite functioning with minimum sleep. I loved seeing the smiles on his face and Cat’s face together. They just seemed to embody the bond that comes with being with someone you love. I admired him as a healthcare professional, and enjoyed listening to his stories. In addition to working as a paramedic, he mentioned that he had also been a nurse, and a 9/11 first responder. I have no doubt that he enriched the lives of everyone he worked with, while taking amazing care of the patients he cared for. I believe that anyone that knew him was fortunate, and that he will be greatly missed.

  5. I had the pleasure of working with Mike a few times and he always brought a cheerful smile, a wealth of knowledge, patience and true humility. I’ve never met a man more dedicated to helping people than him or someone that exudes more kindness and love than him. Mike always did whatever he could to make our jobs easier and never seemed to let the stress get to him. Although I wish we had more time with him I am so proud to have known and worked with Mike for the time I did. Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here.

  6. Mike & Cat were two of the first people I met at Code 4. I had very little experience, and was very nervous about working the event, and not messing up. Mike put me instantly at ease and answered my barrage of questions with kindness and encouragement. He loved teaching us all, was extremely patient and always had a smile on his face. It always made me happy to know when he was working an event, for one we all loved working with him, and two, we all knew that every single patient he came across would be in very capable hands. A great and generous person who always went above and beyond. Cat, I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your love.♥️

  11. I could never say his name without saying the whole thing- Mike Craig. Every time I have in the past and now, I can’t help but smile. Mike Craig was a force, strong but so gentle at the same time. Popping in to see him at events, I knew that I would be greeted with the BIGGEST smile and calming presence. I count myself lucky to have had time with Mike Craig in this life and I will treasure every memory I have of him.

  12. I would like to begin to thank all of Michaels family, friends and coworkers for being here to honor my son. He grow up to be a remarkable man. He had all the virtues with the values I had hope to teach him. Well most of them anyway. He was not perfect but none of us are. I’m very proud of him for being a good son and a wonderful husband to his wife whom me loved dearly. He loved God, love the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and loved and was devoted to Mary the mother of God. This remarkable man brought a lot of laughter and joy to so many people’s lives. He could also be tough as nails. He never ran from a fight. And always stood up for what was right. Was always there to lend a helping hand to friends and family and those in need. He cared and protected those who he loved dearly. He loved his job. He knew at age 16 what he wanted to do with his life. He also wanted to join the Marines but head broken his ankle and they wouldn’t take him. That was a big disappointment in his life. He also worked for a time with Houston SWAT team as medical support. I know he really enjoyed that. While on the job, coming back from calls He would buy food for the people living on the street. In the winter time he would pass out blankets for the homeless. Did you know that? His partners would. He was very compassionate to those in need. A side of him he didn’t like others to see often. But his friends and partners know. I wish to honor him for being the wonderful son, husband, brother, nephew and friend to all who knew him. He will always be my hero. God gifted me with this beautiful man as my son. He will always be in my heart and It’s been an honor and a privilege to be his mother.
