Rose Anne Korpi

Rose Anne Korpi, 65, of New Braunfels, TX went to be with her Heavenly Father to live eternally on Saturday, January 19, 2013. After a short but intense, courageous battle with metastatic melanoma in the brain, she passed peacefully, surrounded by those she loved and who loved her. She was the 3rd of 8 children born to Eugen and Elenora Scheel on November 4, 1947, in Blanco, TX. She graduated as Valedictorian from Marion High School in 1965 and received a degree in Business Education from Incarnate Word College in 1969. She married Wayne Korpi on June 20, 1970. After moving to New Braunfels in 1985, Rose began working for Dr. Frank C. Hampel, Jr. at Central Texas Allergy & Asthma as his office manager, and remained so for 26 years, later moving to Central Texas Health Research until her illness forced her into retirement in November of 2012. For almost 30 years, Rose was a member of numerous choirs at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She had a servant's heart, always putting others first and going out of her way to help those in need. She loved to travel, sing and play music, find bargains for others at garage sales, play Bingo, read, and especially crochet, filling every spare minute working on an afghan, doily, or crocheted art for newlyweds, newborns, charity raffles, and the like. Rose is survived by her husband of 42 years, her "W-Angel," Wayne, her daughter Cindy Allman of New Braunfels, son Kevin and wife Shealynn of New Braunfels, and son Thomas and wife Melissa of Pflugerville. She is also survived by grandchildren Tyler, Cade, and Elli Rose Allman, Tate and Jenna Korpi, and Joshua Korpi. Additional survivors are her special friend and Godson Jon Sonnen and wife Michelle of New Braunfels and their children Hunter and Caleigh, her mother Elenora Scheel of Marion, her sister Margaret and husband Ralph Stapper of Ft. McKavett, her brother Frank and wife Joyce of Uvalde, her sister-in-law Geraldine Scheel of Live Oak, her sister Agnes Williams of New Braunfels, her brother Henry Scheel of Marion, her sister Leona Davenport of Marion, and her sister Carolyn and husband John Stoll of Montgomery. She is also survived by 12 nephews, 3 nieces, numerous cousins, and countless friends. She is preceded in death by her father Eugen T. Scheel and her brother Charlie Scheel. Public visitation will be from 4:30-6:30 PM Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels with a Rosary at 5:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School.
