She served in the North East Independent School District’s Parent Teacher Association which entailed serving 41 local units within the District. Within her own school, she served as President, Delegate/Voting Delegate as well as holding various officer positions. She received numerous Certificates of Appreciation, awards, and recognitions from Superintendents, Associate Superintendents, Principals and parents for her activities and coordination of events focused on enhancing children’s education and parent involvement. In addition to all these accolades, she was honored to be named Human Relations Friend of Education for the district as well as receiving the honor of being named National Life Member. A high point of her career was in 1981 when she received a letter from Roger Staubach for her service as the Honorary Membership Chairman of the PTA! Sandra was an avid gardener and had quite a green thumb! She especially loved her Esperanza plants and the roses she grew in her yard. She usually started her day with a cup of coffee, would read the morning newspaper from front to back and then proceed to working crossword puzzles. A life well lived, her many family members, friends and neighbors will greatly miss her! A memorial service for Sandra will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel.
